[Remote] Senior Director, Business Development

The Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) is seeking a highly experienced, dynamic Senior Director, Business Development to accelerate Indiana’s life sciences economy through business attraction and capital formation. This role involves connecting Indiana’s scientific innovation with national investment and growth opportunities while collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the state's visibility in life sciences.ResponsibilitiesIdentify, target, and recruit high-growth life sciences and biotechnology companies to locate or expand in IndianaPromote Indiana’s assets, including research institutions, talent, and infrastructure to prospective companiesCollaborate with economic development and partner organizations to align outreach and recruitment effortsDeliver measurable pipeline activity within the 12-month engagement periodLeverage an established network of venture capital and industry investors, particularly in leading biotech marketsRapidly connect Indiana-based companies with Seed and Series A funding opportunitiesAdvocate for Indiana startups and secure high-value investor introductions and meetingsPosition Indiana companies to align with investor expectations and deal structuresWork across IBRI and partner organizations to maximize resources and impactServe as a shared business development resource supporting multiple stakeholders statewideStrengthen relationships that increase Indiana’s national visibility in life sciencesBuild and manage a robust pipeline of investment and company recruitment opportunitiesSupport the advancement and closing of financing transactionsDeliver tangible outcomes within the defined one-year timeframeSkillsBachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or related field10+ years of experience in business development, corporate development, or investment in life sciences/biotechAn equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be consideredDemonstrated success closing Seed and/or Series A financingsDeep network with venture capital firms, particularly biotech-focused investorsStrong ability to translate scientific innovations into compelling investment opportunitiesAbility to travel as needed for success in roleExperience with business attraction, economic development, or multi-stakeholder collaboration preferredAdvanced degree in life sciences (PhD or MS preferred) and/or MBA strongly preferredBenefitsCompetitive salary, including bonus potential, and comprehensive benefits offered commensurate with experience.Company OverviewThe Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) is a first-in-class translational medicine institute dedicated to advancing life sciences in the race to eliminate disease and improve human health and life.
