[Remote] Senior Claims Consultant

They are seeking a Senior Claims Consultant to coordinate the defense of insured physicians and medical providers, manage claims, and negotiate resolutions while working with minimal supervision.ResponsibilitiesAct as the first point of contact for insureds on general claim questions and claim reportingPerform coverage analysis and collaborate with Curi Legal team to prepare Reservation of Rights/declination letters when appropriateWork with defense counsel to develop the case, including expert support and case strategyObtain expert reviews and conduct independent investigations when no defense counsel is assignedMaintain cases in a diary to ensure proper file management, evaluation, strategy, and timely reserve recommendationsKeep current running notes to reflect file development and ensure proper data is maintained in the claims management systemNegotiate claim settlements at mediation or directly with plaintiff counsel as indicated, or issue denials to claimant/claimant attorney as appropriateAttend first-suit meetings, mediations, and trialsAttend and participate in Claims Review Committee meetings to provide strategy on claims file managementSkillsBachelor's Degree with a minimum of 8 years of claims experience (bodily injury claims experience a plus); ORJD with a minimum of 8 years of claims experience (bodily injury claims experience a plus) and/or medical malpractice defense experience; ORRN or BSN with a minimum of 8 years of clinical experience plus a minimum of 8 years of claims experienceMust obtain applicable adjusters license(s) by state within three months of start dateSolid understanding of basic insurance concepts, including coverage, policy language, liability, negligence, and damagesStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyEffective written and oral communication skillsAbility to think critically and resolve problems of varying complexityAbility to perform with minimal supervisionSelf-motivated with a strong work ethicExcellent customer service skillsStrong computer skills - experience with eOasis and OnBase is a plusProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteAlignment with Curi's core values: accountability, curiosity, teamwork, inclusion, and service commitment5 – 10 years of medical malpractice claims and/or medical malpractice defense experienceBenefitsComprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insuranceEducation assistanceAnnual bonus opportunity401(k) with employer matchShort-term and long-term disabilityFlexible time off13 paid holidays annuallyCompany OverviewCuri is a physicians rediscover the joy of practicing medicine by providing resources that support them in medicine,business and life.
