They are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to develop API tooling, create distributed systems, and support platform capabilities that enhance ClickUp’s AI initiatives.ResponsibilitiesBuild upon and integrate customer feedback, both internal and external, into our API tooling and shared servicesCreate new architectural foundations and mission-critical distributed systems while collaborating closely with other teamsWork within an agile, scrum-based engineering team focused on core platform capabilitiesAdvocate for, create, and maintain API governance across engineering through collaboration, automation, and outreachOwn integrations within our API Gateway layer and service lifecycles from design to productionIdentify improvements to the design and implementation of new and existing critical shared servicesHelp grow our infrastructure engineering organization’s shared services relied upon by other engineering teams to accelerate product developmentSupport the platform capabilities that power ClickUp’s AI initiatives, including Brain and AgentsSkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experienceStrong understanding of API standards, design approaches, and integration patternsStrong understanding of CAP Theorum and distributed systems design patternsProficient with TypeScriptProficient with GolangExcellent communication skillsStrong sense of ownership and accountabilityStrong consideration for developer experience in everything you buildPragmatic approach to software design, development, and deliveryExperience working with Kafka and related event-based patternsExperience working with and designing Backend for Frontend (BFF) patternsExperience supporting modern AI technologies, including MCP protocol and standardsExperience building shared services and platform capabilities that enable AI products and agent-based systemsCompany OverviewClickUp is a cloud-based productivity and project management software company that provides an all-in-one platforms for task management.
