[Remote] Senior Accounting Associate

The Senior Accounting Associate will play a key role in supporting the accounting, treasury, and regulatory financial operations of the company, particularly in relation to its newly licensed Futures Commission Merchant (FCM). This position involves collaborating across teams to build scalable accounting processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.ResponsibilitiesSupport month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across regulated entitiesPrepare journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and supporting schedulesAssist with regulatory reporting requirements, including preparation of supporting workpapers and schedulesSupport daily capital, liquidity, and customer fund reporting processes and related reconciliationsPrepare and investigate daily trade, position, cash, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling itemsPartner with Accounting leadership to document, implement, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsSupport annual audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews by preparing documentation and responding to requestsAssist with tax reporting requirements and other regulatory reporting obligationsHelp design and improve scalable accounting and reporting processes as the business growsIdentify opportunities for automation and process improvements to reduce manual work and increase operational efficiencyPartner cross-functionally with Finance, Compliance, Operations, Product, and Engineering teams to support new products and business initiativesSkills3-5 years of progressive accounting experienceActive CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification requiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting fundamentalsExperience in public accounting, financial services, fintech, banking, broker-dealers, asset managers, trading firms, or similar environmentsStrong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsAbility to learn complex business models, financial products, and regulatory frameworks quicklyDetail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and ownershipComfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environmentStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively across teamsAdvanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, or similarBig 4 audit or advisory experienceExperience working with financial services clients or regulated financial institutionsExposure to broker-dealers, exchanges, clearing firms, futures markets, or capital markets businessesExperience supporting regulatory reporting, audits, or examinationsFamiliarity with CFTC, NFA, SEC, or FINRA regulatory environmentsExperience with process automation, data analytics, or AI-enabled workflowsExperience working in a high-growth startup or fintech environmentBenefitsPlus target equityUnlimited PTO for full-time employees (we're extremely flexible with the exception of the first few weeks before & into the NFL season)16 weeks of fully paid parental leaveHome office stipendA connected virtual-first culture with a highly engaged distributed workforce5% 401k matchFSACompany paid health, dental, vision plan options for employees and dependentsCompany OverviewUnderdog, the fastest-growing private sports company in the U.S., was founded in 2020 with the simple objective of making sports more fun.
