[Remote] Research Finance Specialist

The Research Finance Specialist plays a key role in grants and contracts administration, providing exceptional customer service and managing subcontract payments while ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial processes.ResponsibilitiesReview incoming subcontract invoices to ensure accuracy and complianceConfirm the following: fully executed agreement on file, invoice format is detailed, current and cumulative costs tally correctly, expenses are aligned with the budget period, expenses do not exceed the budgeted amountCode invoices, scan, upload, and create deliverables for invoices in the Insight systemContribute to system enhancements, testing, training, and deliveryMaintain subcontract invoice process through daily reports; track and analyze progressMaintain an accurate contact list for Department AdministratorsResolve new invoice revisions with collaborating institutionsEscalate any technical invoice disputes, as neededFollow up on outstanding high-risk approvals from department administratorsRespond to subcontract invoice inquiries – BWH, MGH, IHP, MCL, SHRWork with RF team members on the collection of all subcontract invoices at the time of FSRProvide superior customer serviceEnsures that awards/accounts are managed in a fiscally responsible manner and in full compliance with all applicable rules and regulations established by both the sponsor and as well as all pertinent Mass General Brigham policiesWork closely with Accounts payables to ensure invoices are paid and any issues resolved timelyPerform other duties or special projects as requiredAssume additional responsibilities as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree requiredExperience working with a high volume of work in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail and follow-up skillsStrong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and budget managementFamiliarity with research funding mechanisms, grant management, and funding agency regulationsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendationsEffective communication and presentation skills to convey complex financial information to various stakeholdersStrong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with researchers, administrators, and finance teamsMaster's degree preferredAt least 1-2 years of financial analysis experience preferredBenefitsIn addition to competitive base pay, we offer comprehensive benefits, career advancement opportunities, differentials, premiums and bonuses as applicable and recognition programs designed to celebrate your contributions and support your professional growth.At Mass General Brigham, we believe in recognizing and rewarding the unique value each team member brings to our organization.Our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and any offer extended will take into account your skills, relevant experience if applicable, education, certifications and other essential factors.Company OverviewMass General Brigham specializes in providing medical treatments and health diagnostics services.
