On Call Counsel is seeking dedicated attorneys to join a prestigious government agency addressing the backlog of special education claims in New York City. The role involves managing a high volume of cases and representing clients throughout the special education claims process, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and timely resolutions.ResponsibilitiesManage a high-volume caseload of 100–200 special education claims, ensuring timely and effective handlingPrepare for and/or litigate complex cases involving significant legal precedents, policy implications, or financial impact. Represent the agency in administrative hearings, pre-hearing conferences, and settlement negotiationsNavigate procedural requirements and ensure compliance with federal and state education laws and regulationsPrepare and review all necessary filings, agreements, and reports with accuracy and thoroughnessWork with parents, public advocacy groups, and opposing counsel to reach fair resolutions while negotiating claims for attorney’s feesCollaborate with special education specialists, technical experts, and attorneys; provide training to field staff and clinical staff on compliance with education lawsAnalyze case law, gather evidence, and evaluate settlement demands.
