[Remote] ​​Public Health Policy Intern​

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Environmental Defense Fund is focused on advancing equitable, science-based policies to combat air pollution and climate change. The Public Health Policy Intern will support advocacy efforts by researching policy developments and assisting in the preparation of educational materials for decision-makers and coalition partners. Responsibilities • Research federal and state legislative and regulatory actions related to air quality, methane emissions, and environmental health. • Track policy trends and compiling weekly or biweekly updates for internal staff and partners. • Draft policy summaries, fact sheets, and talking points for staff and coalition use. • Support coordination between Moms Clean Air Force, EDF policy teams, and external partners to align advocacy efforts. • Assist in preparing materials for meetings with policymakers, partners, and stakeholders. • Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values. Skills • Strong demonstrated research, writing, and analytical skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Must be well organized, motivated, and detail oriented. • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. • Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due. • Demonstrate self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds. • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills. • Familiarity with legislative or regulatory processes Education Requirements • Currently enrolled in/recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate degree program with demonstrated interest and/or coursework in political science, public policy, environmental health, climate change, or social justice.
