[Remote] Project Manager, Statutory Review and Readiness

The Sr. Project Manager will lead the execution of statutory readiness projects, ensuring timely implementation of regulatory changes to protect revenue and reduce compliance risks.ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end execution of statutory readiness projects, ensuring on-time delivery with zero preventable customer impactImprove understanding across Compliance, Product, Engineering, Government Relations, Finance, and Sales to translate statutory change into system, process, and customer readiness outcomesFind and address risks, dependencies, and execution gaps across teamsApply AI tools to analyze regulatory inputs, improve readiness tracking, and identify new risks or dependencies earlier in the SRR lifecycleEstablish scalable SRR operating mechanisms (intake, governance, tracking, and reporting)Lead incident response for compliance events, including resolution and prevention improvementsDefine and track program metrics (readiness, risk, execution velocity, and revenue )Influence senior team members using data-driven recommendationsRepresent Avalara in discussions with jurisdictional partners strengthening Avalara's credibility and regulatory partnership postureCreate post-mortem reviews that convert lessons learned into systemic process improvementsSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, English, Political Science, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field5β7+ years of program/project management experience in environments3+ years of experience managing regulatory, compliance, or operational risk programsExperience promoting understanding across technical and business teamsApplied experience using AI to improve execution, or scaleBenefitsPaid time offPaid parental leaveMany Avalara employees are eligible for bonusesPrivate medical, life, and disability insuranceAvalara strongly supports diversity, equity, and inclusion8 employee-run resource groups, each with senior leadership and exec sponsorshipCompany OverviewAvalara is the agentic AI platform for global tax and compliance.
