[Remote] Procurement Director - Utility Scale Solar & BESS

Veritas Partners is a rapidly-growing renewable energy developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP) with 3 GW of utility scale solar and BESS in operation and development. The Procurement Director will lead and manage the end-to-end procurement strategy for large utility scale solar and battery storage projects, overseeing sourcing, vendor negotiation, and logistics procurement.ResponsibilitiesLeads and oversees sourcing, vendor negotiation, contract management, and material logistics for critical components, including solar modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, battery systems, and EPC servicesOversee end-to-end procurement execution, including purchase order issuance, contract management, and delivery coordinationEnsure procurement processes are compliant, well-documented, and aligned with internal controls and governance standardsManage logistics procurement, including transportation and storage solutions, ensuring on-time delivery to project sitesCoordinate equipment allocation and scheduling with internal stakeholdersPartners cross-functionally with development, engineering, project management, construction, legal, finance, and logistics teams to ensure procurement strategies align with project timelines, cost objectives, and company goalsLead, develop, and hold accountable a team of procurement professionals across strategic sourcing and operational buying functionsDevelop and execute upstream sourcing strategies to secure supply, optimize commercial terms, and establish preferred supplier relationships ahead of project demandDrive strategic procurement initiatives aligned with project development and construction objectivesServe as a subject matter expert on supply chain trends, technology evolution, pricing dynamics, and regulatory impactsLead sourcing and negotiation of high-value supply agreements for major equipment categories, including EPC Contractors, PV modules, BESS, inverters, trackers, transformers, and breakersIssue, manage, and evaluate RFIs/RFQs/RFPs, conduct supplier assessments, and negotiate commercial terms and risk allocationBuild and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve performance, reliability, and total cost of ownershipManage quality control programs, manufacturing inspections, and third-party audit servicesPartner with development, engineering, project management, construction, legal, and finance teams to align procurement with project needsSupport technical reviews, contract approvals, and change order management processesEnsure procured equipment meets performance, reliability, and bankability standardsMaintain and communicate market intelligence on pricing trends, supplier capacity, tariffs, and supply chain risksDevelop forward-looking cost forecasts and product roadmaps based on market analysis and supplier insightsProvide regular reporting to senior leadership on procurement activities, project status, risks, and opportunitiesTrack contractual obligations, delivery schedules, and supplier performance metricsIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and reduce costsDevelop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and standard workImplement and manage procurement systems, tools, and vendor databases (e.g., ERP, SharePoint, Firmex)Manage RFP processes, supplier performance evaluations, and total cost of ownership (TCO) assessmentsSkillsBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field7 to 10+ years of procurement experience within the energy, construction, or renewable energy industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership roleProven experience in utility-scale solar, energy storage, or substation project procurementStrong knowledge of EPC contracts, supply agreements, Incoterms, and logisticsExceptional negotiation and communication skillsDeep understanding of global supply chain dynamics and risk mitigation strategiesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environmentExperience working for an IPP or EPC contractor in the renewable energy sectorExperience managing procurement in volatile supply chain environments and evolving regulatory/trade conditionsBackground in strategic category management and capital project supportFamiliarity with international trade, import/export regulations, and duties and tariffs related to solar/BESS equipmentExperience leveraging data analytics or Generative AI to improve procurement insights and workflowsBenefitsUp to 25% annual bonusExcellent benefitsFully remote flexible work scheduleOccasional travelCompany OverviewVeritas Partners is a boutique recruiting firm specializing in professional and executive talent acquisition.
