[Remote] Plant Engineer (East Coast)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CSG Talent is seeking a Plant Engineer for a pork slaughter and processing facility. The role focuses on maintaining and improving the reliability, efficiency, and safety of plant equipment, managing maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for slaughter, fabrication, refrigeration, rendering, wastewater, and packaging systemsTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation issues to minimize downtimeAnalyze equipment performance data and lead root-cause failure analysisCoordinate major repairs, shutdowns, and maintenance scheduling with production teamsOversee operation and maintenance of boilers, ammonia refrigeration systems, compressed air, water, steam, and wastewater treatment systemsMonitor utility consumption and implement energy-efficiency improvementsEnsure reliability of critical infrastructure supporting food safety and production continuityPlan and execute capital projects, including equipment upgrades, line expansions, and facility improvementsPrepare project scopes, budgets, timelines, and ROI analysesApply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to improve throughput, yield, and operating costsEnsure engineering and maintenance activities comply with USDA/FSIS regulations, OSHA standards, EPA requirements, and company food safety programsSupport HACCP, sanitation, and audit readiness effortsPromote a strong safety culture and lead incident investigations related to equipment or facilitiesWork closely with production, quality, sanitation, and maintenance teams to support plant objectivesSupervise contractors and vendors during maintenance and project activitiesProvide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnelSkillsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field5+ years of engineering experience in food processing, meat processing, or industrial manufacturingHands-on experience with industrial maintenance, utilities, and capital project managementKnowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, PLCs/automation, and industrial controlsProficiency in CMMS software and Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical manualsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent project management and organizational abilitiesEffective communication and teamwork skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environmentCommitment to safety, food safety, and operational excellenceExperience in a pork slaughter or meat-processing environmentFamiliarity with ammonia refrigeration systems and boiler operations is highly desirableProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseAmmonia refrigeration certification (e.g., RETA)OSHA 30-Hour certificationCompany OverviewCSG Talent is a provider of staffing and recruitment services.
