[Remote] Payments Analyst

The Payments Analyst will manage payment operations, ensuring accurate and timely disbursements while analyzing data to identify trends and enhance processes.ResponsibilitiesEnsure every payment flow balances and clears successfully — across state disbursements, family wallets, and vendor payoutsInvestigate and resolve payment exceptions — returned ACH, misdirected payments, failed disbursementsBuild and continuously improve the financial and operational records and systems that keep programs runningAnalyze payment and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and issuesMonitor KPIs and surface issues before they escalateSupport ad hoc analysis requests from leadershipHunt for inefficiencies, eliminate unnecessary manual work, and build processes that scaleBuild the playbooks that make Odyssey's payment operations more scalable and resilientSkills1–2 years of experience in finance, accounting, operations, analytics, or a related roleExceptional attention to detail — you catch things others missGenuinely curious — you ask why things work the way they do and want to understand the business, not just the task in front of youLow ego, high output — you're willing to do the unglamorous work, learn fast, and build from the ground upStrong Excel or Google Sheets skillsExcellent communication and follow-throughHighly dependable and proactiveExperience with payments or transaction data workflowsFamiliarity with BI or reporting tools (Looker, Metabase, Tableau, etc.)Company OverviewOdyssey is the first business to create a product specifically for managing education savings accounts and microgrants.
