They are seeking a Packaging Engineer to develop cost-effective packaging solutions, create guidelines, and collaborate with various departments to ensure packaging meets customer and industry standards.ResponsibilitiesDevelop cost reductions as a result of packaging that is flexible to accommodate multiple productsCreate cost justification presentations to review with customerDevelop packaging guidelines in conjunction with industry standards, best practices and customer requirementsDevelop sketches specifications, samples and written analyses of proposed packaging in order to present design for approvalAnalyze engineering drawings and product specifications to determine part characteristics to ensure proper development of protective packaging taking safety and special handling into considerationMaintain returnable container master by supplierTrain and educate customers (internal and external) on programEnsure packaging can be utilized throughout all processes of the operationIdentify key suppliers to utilize returnable containers to maximize safety, storage, protection and shippingRight size required product and research alternative container methods; Maximize material handling efficiencyConsult with purchasing and manufacturing departments to determine costs and feasibility of proposed packagingAssist with implementing reusable containersProvide guidance to purchasing on the supplier cost of the container versus corrugated, wood, etcPerforms other duties as assignedSkillsBachelor's degree Packaging EngineeringOne (1) year experience Packaging Engineering, requiredOne (1) year experience working in a team environment, requiredAble to read and understand the regulations of the customer, AIAG and OSHA standardsMathematics, oral and written communication skills; presentation skills; the ability to sell the visionAbility to create and maintain professional relationships with all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)Ability to work independently and as a member of a teamFlexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast paced environmentCapable of multi-tasking, highly organized with excellent time management skillsDetail oriented with excellent follow-up practicesCAD, Access, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio, Tableau; advanced levelData analytics experience utilizing excel for shipment cost saving measuresWorking knowledge of supply chain/ logistics/ transportation, PFEP knowledge is a PLUSBenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision Benefits start at 30 Days401 (K) Savings Plan with a company matchDiscounted employee stock purchase optionsQuality employee discounts that actually save you money on tools, cars, appliances, travel and moreAll major holidays paid and Paid time off within your first yearUp to 12 weeks paid maternity leaveComprehensive health and welfare benefits, to include medical, prescription, dental, vision, life insurance and disability insurance optionsPaid time off for vacation, illness, bereavement, family and parental leaveA tax-advantaged 401(k) retirement savings planCompany OverviewWe perfect the supply chains people depend on.
