[Remote] Medical Billing Intern

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. New U Therapy Center & Family Services is a well-established multidisciplinary mental health practice located in Southern California. They are seeking a Medical Billing Intern to assist with claims preparation and submission, review patient information, and maintain electronic medical records while gaining practical experience in a supportive environment. Responsibilities • Assisting with the preparation and submission of claims to various insurance companies and government agencies. • Reviewing and verifying the accuracy and completeness of patient information and billing data. • Following up on unpaid or rejected claims and resolving any issues or discrepancies. • Researching and applying the latest coding guidelines and regulations. • Maintaining and updating electronic medical records and databases. • Performing other administrative tasks as assigned by the supervisor. Skills • Have completed or are currently taking courses in medical terminology, medical billing and coding, or any related course. • Have a basic knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes and modifiers. • Have a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Word, and Google Workspace. • Have excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. • Be able to work in a team. Education Requirements • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in healthcare administration, health information management, or a related field.
