They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 to perform design and stress analyses of pressure vessels and reactor vessel internals, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry standards and regulations.ResponsibilitiesPerforms and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code including but not limited to analysis of components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings including Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary stress intensity range, and Fatigue. Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) designDirect experience with ANSYS finite element software and CAD packagesInterprets scope and project requirementsAcquires, maintains and develops training qualificationsInteracts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teamsPerforms other duties as assignedSkillsA minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is requiredMinimum of 6 years of full-time relevant working experience is requiredCandidates must have experience utilizing ANSYS to perform stress analysis in accordance with Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Subsections NB, NG, and/or NFAbility to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computersAbility to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environmentThe employee frequently is required; to sit and stand; walk; bend, use hands to operate office equipment; and reach with hands and armsAbility to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportationEligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810An advanced degree is preferredA professional engineer (P.E.) certification is preferredAdditional experience in the following areas is desired: Seismic/dynamic analysisComputer programming skills (e.g., ANSYS APDL, Matlab, Python)Company OverviewNuScale Power has developed a small modular reactor (SMR) to supply energy for electrical generation and other heat process applications.
