[Remote] Mechanical Engineer 2 (NSSS Component Design)

NuScale Power is a leader in the nuclear energy sector, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 for their Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization. The role involves generating technical requirements and design parameters for NSSS components, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with various teams to optimize component design.ResponsibilitiesPrepares and review engineering specifications, reports, and other documentation that communicates the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSSUtilizes the results from BPVC Section III evaluations to optimize component designCollaborates with peers in different organizations and engage in the engineering change control process to ensure design decisions are well-communicated and well-understoodReviews design work of other groups (within and outside of the NuScale organization) to gain and maintain an understanding of how components, systems, and structures will work togetherSpeaks to the design of NSSS Components in discussions with manufacturing partners to ensure design intent is maintained while fabrication of components is consideredPerforms other duties as assignedSkillsA minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is requiredMinimum of 2 years of full-time relevant working experience (1 year if accompanied by an advanced engineering degree) is requiredApplicable experience includes the development of technical designs through preparing engineering specifications, preparing models/drawings, performing stress analysis, and/or interfacing with suppliers/subcontractors for engineering solutionsEligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferredDesign experience with commercial nuclear components or BPVC Section III is preferredBenefitsFor information on employee benefits, please visit our Careers Overview page: Employee Benefits | NuScale PowerCompany OverviewNuScale Power has developed a small modular reactor (SMR) to supply energy for electrical generation and other heat process applications.
