We are seeking a Substation Engineering Manager to manage our substation projects, providing technical leadership and overseeing the design and development of electrical substation projects while ensuring compliance with industry standards.ResponsibilitiesOversee the design and development of electrical substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulationsManage substation engineering programs from concept through completion, providing leadership in scope development, budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, and risk mitigationLead cross‑functional collaboration by coordinating engineering, construction, and project management teams to ensure seamless execution of substation initiativesProvide technical leadership by reviewing and approving technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for substation equipment, components, and systemsDirect engineering analyses including feasibility studies, load flow modeling, short‑circuit studies, and other simulations to ensure system reliability and operational efficiencyGuide equipment evaluation by overseeing the selection of transformers, breakers, relays, and control systems to meet project and system requirementsSupervise field assessments by directing site visits, evaluating existing substation conditions, identifying issues, and approving recommended maintenance or upgrade strategiesReview and approve contractor submittals to ensure alignment with project requirements, design intent, and engineering standardsPromote continuous improvement by staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in substation engineering and integrating them into team practicesLead and mentor engineering staff by providing direction, coaching, and technical expertise while fostering a collaborative, high‑performance work environmentSkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required12+ years of experience in Electric Substation engineering requiredProfessional Engineer license (PE) requiredKnowledge of power systems, electrical circuits and substation fundamentalsFamiliarity with industry standards and codes such as IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and IEC related to substation design and operationRelay Engineer, Substation Physicals Engineer, Substation Civil Engineer experienceProficiency in relevant software tools, including CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and electrical simulation software (ETAP, PSCAD, or similar)Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for conducting technical studies and performing accurate calculationsEffective communication skills to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical information clearlyEnthusiasm for learning and staying abreast on advancements in substation engineering and related technologiesAbility to manage and mentor teams and foster a collaborative, high‑performance work environment while providing clear direction, support, and technical guidanceMaster's degree preferredBenefitsMultiple medical and dental insurance plansVision insurancePlans are subsidized for both employees and dependents with coverage effective the first month after hirePaid AD&D and life insuranceA 401k with an industry leading employer matchGenerous vacation and sick leave accruals9 paid holidaysOther forms of paid time offFlexible spending accounts (FSA’s) including medical care reimbursement, dependent care reimbursement, and commuter benefit plansEmployees are also eligible for our employee assistance program and well-being benefits that include stress management, nutrition, and financial well-beingCompany OverviewCordoba Corporation is an engineering, programing, and construction management firm.
