[Remote] Engineering Manager, Data Science (Remote, Continental United States)

They are seeking an Engineering Manager, Data Science to lead a team of data scientists and engineers, guiding technical direction and ensuring the delivery of data science solutions while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
β’ Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance
β’ Manage the full performance cycle β goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews
β’ Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels
β’ Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives
β’ Monitor team engagement, taking proactive steps to address issues
β’ Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding
β’ Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models, analytical pipelines, and AI-powered solutions
β’ Partner with engineering and product teams to align on priorities and ensure smooth execution
β’ Promote best practices in data science β model quality, reproducibility, documentation, and responsible AI
β’ Translate complex data science outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
β’ Communicate across all levels β from individual contributors to senior leadership β with clarity and confidence
β’ Align data science efforts with broader business and client objectives
β’ Represent and advocate for your team's work, capacity, and needs
Skills
β’ 5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development
β’ Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics
β’ Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant DS/ML frameworks
β’ Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
β’ Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows
β’ Outstanding communication skills and the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
β’ A genuine commitment to growing the people around you
β’ Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related); experience is the most relevant factor
β’ Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
β’ Candidates residing in the DMV area preferred
