[Remote] Embedded Perception Engineer

The Embedded Perception Engineer will be responsible for developing and optimizing perception systems that enable these vessels to understand and navigate real-world environments effectively.ResponsibilitiesOwn end-to-end perception pipelines deployed to operational systemsDeliver high-reliability solutions aligned with mission requirementsDesign, train, and optimize perception models for maritime environmentsDevelop object detection, classification, and tracking systemsWork with large vision models (ViT, CLIP, SAM, or similar)Fuse multi-modal sensor data (camera, radar, lidar) into unified perception outputsCollaborate with hardware teams to select and integrate sensorsDevelop and validate low-level sensor drivers for high-integrity data pipelinesDeploy models using NVIDIA Triton Inference ServerOptimize inference for latency and throughput on edge hardwareApply quantization, pruning, and other optimization techniquesIntegrate perception outputs into autonomy stacks alongside mission software and platform teamsSupport troubleshooting of perception performance in operational environmentsDefine metrics and evaluation frameworks to monitor deployed system healthInvestigate perception failures and drive resolution across teamsPartner with operators and customers to translate field challenges into engineering solutionsSkillsBachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Machine Learning, or related field3+ years developing and deploying computer vision or perception systems in C++ and/or Python on LinuxExperience with modern deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)Hands-on experience with large vision models (ViT, CLIP, SAM, etc.)Experience implementing sensor fusion across heterogeneous modalitiesProficiency with NVIDIA Triton, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, or equivalent inference toolingAbility to quickly navigate and understand complex codebasesStrong systems-thinking mindsetU.S. Citizenship and eligibility for U.S. security clearanceExperience deploying perception systems on embedded platforms (Jetson, FPGA, similar)Familiarity with maritime or aerial sensor environmentsExperience optimizing models for edge inferenceKnowledge of autonomy frameworks (ROS2, MOOS-IvP)Experience with safety-critical or real-time systemsFamiliarity with military systems and defense acquisition processesBenefits100% Employer paid Health, Dental and Vision Insurance for you and your familiesLife Insurance (Employer Paid)Ability to participate in the companies 401k program (Matching)Unlimited PTO policy with an enforced 2 week minimumEquity PackageWork / Home Office StipendGlobal Entry16 Week Paid Parental LeaveMonthly Health and Wellness StipendCompany OverviewHavoc is the leader in all-domain collaborative autonomy.
