The Director of Business Development is responsible for supporting and growing sales in the Data Centers and Communications sectors, managing multiple projects, and developing sales strategies to meet company objectives.ResponsibilitiesSupporting and growing sales of assigned house accounts, customer presentations and demonstrationsResponsible for recommending product line strategies for Data Center and Telecommunications applications across Hubbell groups and business unitsAttending Industry conferences, sales meetings and visit customers and end-users: conducting product training presentations and researchAssists in the development of supporting new product launch materials with Marketing and Marketing Communication ManagersResponsible for providing an exemplary level of support to the sales organization and customers on product (technical and application questions)Accomplishing sales objectives by recruiting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees in assigned verticals; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and proceduresDeveloping and executing comprehensive sales strategies to meet company objectives and revenue targetsIdentifying market opportunities, setting sales goals, and devising plans to achieve and exceed targetsSetting clear objectives and KPIs, evaluating performance, and implementing strategies to enhance sales productivityCultivating and maintaining relationships with key clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring high levels of satisfactionAnalyzing sales data, trends, and metrics to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisionsImplementing sales processes and tools to optimize efficiency and effectivenessConducting market research, monitoring industry trends, and adapting sales strategies to capitalize on market opportunitiesDeveloping competitive positioning strategies to enhance market share and profitabilityProviding insights and recommendations to senior management based on sales performance and market analysisPreparing regular sales reports, forecasts, and presentations for senior managementDeveloping and managing sales budgets, ensuring optimal resource allocation for maximum ROISkillsMust be self-reliant, resourceful, creative skills and possess acumen in executing business decisionsExcellent oral and writing communication skills needed to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and the general publicAbility to organize and manage 'ad-hoc' teams to support the development of business opportunitiesMust apply critical thinking skills to determine best approach to bring new products to market and to work with engineering, operations and marketing and sales staffsCapable of occasional travel to attend meetings or visit customersStrong mathematic, analytical and computer skillsA Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or business field is preferred, along with a minimum of 7-10 years of related experienceKnowledge of current and emerging Data Center and Telecommunications industry and technologies, methods, and standards, applications, related products and channels of distribution within the Vertical MarketPreferable experience in the Data Center and/or Telecom industry, related design and engineering processes and marketApplications Understanding standards and codesComprehensive knowledge of sales processesProficiency in Word, Excel and PowerpointExcellent organizational and time management skillsSolid presentation skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsSelf-starter and highly motivatedAnalytical skills requiredCompany OverviewHubbell Incorporated is a leading manufacturer of utility and electrical solutions that help build more reliable, resilient, and renewable energy infrastructure.
