[Remote] Database Administrator

RAM Health is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for the design, implementation, and management of enterprise database platforms, primarily focusing on IBM DB2 environments. The DBA will ensure the performance, integrity, and security of mission-critical databases while also contributing to SQL Server environments and modernization initiatives.ResponsibilitiesAdminister DB2 databases across AIX/Linux environmentsManage DB2 on IBM Power Systems (PowerVM LPARs)Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgradesManage schemas, tablespaces, indexesEnsure high availability and adherence to SLA complianceOptimize SQL, buffer pools, memory, I/O, and locking mechanismsExecute RUNSTATS and analyze EXPLAIN plans for performance improvementsImplement and manage monitoring tools (PRTG, Rapid7, and native DB2 tools)Integrate database logs with SIEM platforms (Rapid7)Monitor system health: CPU, memory, disk, locking, and query performanceManage storage utilization and tablespace growthPerform capacity planning and forecastingOptimize memory structures (e.g., buffer pools, sort heap)Manage PowerVM resource allocationManage backup and restore processesEnsure disaster recovery readiness and conduct regular testingImplement RBAC, encryption, and auditing controlsSupport compliance efforts (HITRUST, NIST, SOC2)Support migrations (AIX → Linux, cloud environments)Work with OpenShift and container platformsContribute to ongoing database modernization effortsProvide performance tuning, backups, and routine maintenance for SQL serverSkills7+ years of experience with DB2Hands-on experience with DB2 on Power Systems (PowerVM LPARs)Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning and optimizationExperience with shell scripting (Bash and/or KornShell)Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL ServerFamiliarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)Exposure to OpenShift and/or KubernetesExperience supporting or integrating with SIEM solutionsBackground in platform modernization initiativesExperience working in healthcare or other regulated environmentsStrong problem-solving and analytical thinkingProven performance troubleshooting expertiseHigh level of attention to detailExcellent communication skillsAbility to perform effectively in critical, high-pressure environmentsBenefitsMedicalDentalVision401(k) with matchLife insuranceSTDLTD5 weeks PTOPaid Holidays for a full-time employeeCompany OverviewAt RAM Health, our mission is to simplify the complexities of healthcare administration through innovative, technology-driven solutions.
