[Remote] Data Warehouse Applications Technician

The Data Warehouse Applications Technician will work closely with senior team members in a SQL-focused role, gaining hands-on experience in developing analytical solutions while receiving mentorship and guidance.ResponsibilitiesAssist in overseeing, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various operational tasks with guidance from senior team membersSupport the design, development, and troubleshooting of ETL automation routinesPerform data analysis, investigation, and interrogation using SQL and other tools, building skills through real-world applicationsLearn to comprehend and interpret database diagrams and data dictionariesCreate and maintain project documentation to ensure clear tracking of progressCommunicate professionally with team members and clients, honing your skills in a collaborative settingCollaborate with senior team members to develop automated processes supporting client installationsWork with clients and Salient consultants to understand user requirements and contribute to solutionsProvide ongoing support for client production systems and help maintain Salient solutionsSkillsBachelor's degree in mathematics, information systems, data science, business analytics, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply) preferred. Relevant Associates degree will be considered0-2 years of relevant experience (internships, academic projects, or part-time roles count)Basic to intermediate SQL skills – ability to demonstrate proficiency through coursework, projects, or self-studySome exposure to programming/scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Batch, or PowerShell (e.g., from college classes or personal projects) for automating simple data tasksStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, leveraging your mathematics background to identify and resolve data-related issuesEffective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholdersEagerness to learn and stay current with the latest trends and best practices in data warehousing and related technologiesMust be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorshipFamiliarity with database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS), Snowflake, Databricks, Vertica, or OracleExperience with ETL tools like Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or AlteryxExperience with business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, or LookerUnderstanding of data integration techniques such as data cleansing, data mapping, and data transformationFamiliarity with relational databases, with a focus on DSD, CPG, product distribution, warehousing, or retail POS sales systems and dataExperience working with large-scale datasets related to product distribution, retail sales data, or similar relational databasesCompany OverviewSalient is a performance optimization partner that helps complex organizations in retail, beverage, wholesale distribution, CPG and healthcare align data, accountability and action to drive continuous improvement.
