[Remote] Data Architect
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Empiric is a leading utilities company seeking an experienced Microsoft Fabric Data Architect to design and lead the modernization of their enterprise data platform. This role involves architecting scalable and secure data solutions within Microsoft Fabric to support various analytics and reporting initiatives across the organization.
Responsibilities
• Design and architect enterprise data platforms within Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, and OneLake
• Lead migration efforts from legacy data warehouse or Azure Synapse environments into Microsoft Fabric
• Define and implement scalable data models, medallion architecture patterns, and governance frameworks
• Architect and oversee ETL/ELT workflows using Fabric Pipelines, Spark Notebooks, and Delta tables
• Establish best practices around performance optimization, partitioning, security, RBAC, encryption, and data lifecycle management
• Ensure data solutions meet enterprise reliability, compliance, and audit requirements
• Partner with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, and regulatory teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Skills
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture roles within enterprise environments
• Hands-on experience architecting and implementing Microsoft Fabric solutions in production
• Strong understanding of Lakehouse architecture, Delta tables, and distributed data processing using Spark
• Experience with Azure data services such as Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, or Databricks
• Advanced SQL and Python proficiency for large-scale data transformation and performance tuning
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Experience working in highly regulated or data-sensitive industries (utilities, energy, financial services, healthcare) preferred
