[Remote] Cybersecurity Professional – Auditor / Consultant

They are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Professional to join their cybersecurity assurance team, focusing on auditing, consulting, and compliance for innovative organizations in the public sector.ResponsibilitiesIntegrate with the existing Service Delivery team and provide transition, support, and account maintenance for our growing list of customersConduct cybersecurity gap assessments, readiness reviews, and audits aligned with NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, and CMMC requirementsProvide consulting and advisory services for clients in the defense and public sectorsSupport development and maintenance of system security documentation (SSP, POA&M, SARs, risk assessments, audit reports, etc.)Translate complex cybersecurity requirements into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and executive stakeholdersUse AI-assisted analysis and automation tools to streamline compliance, documentation, and reporting processesEngage in cross-framework learning and advisory (e.g., FDA Cyber Regulations, SEC Cyber Disclosure, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, etc.)Present findings and recommendations through professional reports and executive briefingsCollaborate with internal experts and leadership on continuous improvement initiatives and framework harmonization projectsSkills5–10+ years of experience in cybersecurity auditing, consulting, or compliance in the public or defense sectorDemonstrated expertise with one or more of the following frameworks: NIST SP 800-171 / CMMC, NIST SP 800-53/FedRAMP, or equivalent frameworks, ISO 27001 or PCIStrong technical writing and audit reporting experienceExcellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging technical and executive audiencesFamiliarity with AI or automation tools for cybersecurity and compliance workflowsAbility to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentExperience supporting DoD, Aerospace firms, or regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, defense, energy)Working knowledge of DoD cyber regs, FDA cybersecurity regulations, SEC cyber risk disclosure rulesAbility to evaluate and understand complex IT ecosystems.
