[Remote] Cost Accountant (Federal Grants)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Dice is seeking a Cost Accountant to ensure the integrity of federal grant expenditures. The role involves evaluating cost allocation methodologies, validating financial data, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations while supporting financial stewardship across various organizations.ResponsibilitiesReview and analyze Cost Allocation Plans (CAPs) and Indirect Cost Rate Proposals (IDCRPs)Validate that costs are:Allowable and reasonableProperly documentedCompliant with federal grant requirementsReconcile cost data with financial statements, budgets, and supporting recordsIdentify and exclude unallowable costs from calculationsAssist in evaluating cost distribution methods across multiple programsSupport preparation of financial reports, findings, and recommendationsMaintain accurate spreadsheets, tracking tools, and financial recordsCollaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (including grant recipients)Familiarity with federal cost principles, internal controls, and risk assessmentExperience with federal audits (Single Audit, OIG, GAO)Provide basic guidance on cost allocation and grant complianceSkills3â5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or grants managementHands-on experience with direct and indirect cost allocationExperience working with or supporting grant requests from hospitalsExperience working with or supporting grant requests from universitiesExperience working with or supporting grant requests from tribal entitiesExperience working with or supporting grant requests from non-profit organizationsKnowledge of GAAP and basic cost accounting principlesStrong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data validation, and error-checkingExperience with financial systems (UFMS, PMS, GrantSolutions, or similar)Good attention to detail and organizational skillsUnderstanding of grant requests from hospitals, universities, tribal entities, and non-profitsFederal Government experience is mandatoryUnderstanding of federal grant regulations (2 CFR Part 200 preferred)Company OverviewDice is the go-to career marketplace for tech professionals.
