[Remote] Controls Engineer II, Customer Support

The Controls Engineer II will support BEUMER’s installed systems within the Customer Support division, troubleshooting and optimizing machine control systems primarily in baggage handling and sortation environments to ensure system reliability and customer satisfaction.ResponsibilitiesUnderstand customer operational needs and translate them into effective control system solutions for existing installationsTroubleshoot, maintain, and enhance machine control systems for BEUMER sorters using standard BEUMER control codeDiagnose and resolve PLC, controls, and system-level issues in live operational environmentsSupport service activities including corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and system optimizationInterpret electrical design drawings and specifications to support troubleshooting and modificationsCollaborate with Electrical Engineering to support I/O network troubleshooting, updates, and system improvementsPartner with software developers and cross-functional teams to resolve system issues and implement enhancementsParticipate in system testing, validation, and updates both remotely and on-sitePrepare and maintain accurate service documentation, including as-built updates and change logsSupport on-site service activities, including commissioning support, retrofits, and system upgradesAssist in lifecycle support initiatives, including modernization and continuous improvement effortsProvide technical support and guidance to Field Service Technicians and customers as neededContribute to root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrenceMay be assigned to special projects or other duties as requiredSkillsBachelor's degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in controls engineering, preferably within service or support environmentsAdvanced machine control concepts and troubleshooting methodologiesStrong understanding of PLC programming, especially Siemens (TIA Portal)Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and system documentationAbility to evaluate and resolve controls-related issues independently in time-sensitive environmentsStrong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutionsAbility to quickly adapt to new control platforms and evolving technologiesExperience using computer-based tools for diagnostics, programming, and service trackingStrong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and customer stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environmentExcellent time management and attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsCustomer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellenceProfessional, positive, and proactive attitudeWillingness and ability to travel to customer sites as needed (typically up to 25%)Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is a plusBenefitsMedical & Dental Premiums: We cover 100% of the premiums for you and your eligible dependents.401(k) with Generous Match: Secure your financial future with our competitive retirement plan.Life Insurance / Long Term Disability: Peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
