Harmonic Finance Inc is a rapidly scaling, digitally-native consumer brand seeking a Controller to build a best-in-class finance function. The role involves taking full ownership of the accounting function, leading core financial operations, and ensuring accurate reporting while collaborating with leadership in a high-growth environment.ResponsibilitiesLead the monthly close process end-to-end, delivering timely and accurate financial reporting across a multi-channel P&LDevelop and maintain detailed revenue reporting, including management of variable deductions, reserves, and adjustments across channelsBuild and refine contribution margin views by product line and sales channel to support decision-makingOwn inventory accounting, including cost tracking, valuation, and variance analysis across multiple locationsPartner cross-functionally to ensure real-time visibility into inventory movement and cost driversManage accounts receivable across wholesale customers, including deductions, disputes, and collectionsOversee high-volume direct-to-consumer transaction flows and ensure accurate reconciliation of platform activityOwn accounting for third-party marketplace channels, including fee structures, settlements, and inventory movementCoordinate tax compliance across jurisdictions, including indirect tax filings and external advisor managementSupport audit processes, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and auditor coordinationDesign and implement scalable internal controls suited for a high-growth, evolving environmentOwn and optimize ERP and financial systems, including process design, documentation, and potential system enhancements or migrationsManage and mentor a small accounting team while remaining hands-on in day-to-day executionSkillsCPA with 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrior experience in a consumer products, retail, or inventory-driven businessStrong understanding of revenue recognition principles in a multi-channel environmentDeep experience with inventory accounting, including cost capitalization and allocation methodologiesProven ability to manage accounting across direct-to-consumer, wholesale, and marketplace channelsTrack record of owning a fast, efficient close process in a complex operating environmentExperience navigating multi-state tax compliance and working with external advisorsHands-on experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar)Demonstrated ability to build processes, improve controls, and operate effectively in a high-growth settingExperience managing or mentoring junior accounting staffExperience in a high-growth or venture-backed environmentExposure to system implementations or ERP migrationsAdvanced experience building channel-level profitability or contribution margin reportingFamiliarity with subscription-based revenue models or recurring revenue streamsExperience operating in a lean team where adaptability and ownership are criticalBenefitsBonusAwesome BenefitsCompany OverviewHarmonic is a B Corp Recruitment & Executive Search company that partners with some of the fastest growing start-ups, scale-ups, and entrepreneur-led organisations worldwide.
