They are seeking a Business Development Manager to identify and generate new product ideas within the Electric Utility Enclosures market, engaging with key stakeholders to understand their needs and collaborating with sales and engineering teams to develop actionable product concepts.ResponsibilitiesDrive customer and market driven product ideation by identifying trends and solution gaps in utility operations, construction, maintenance practices, and safety processesBuild and maintain strong, trustâbased relationships across IOUs, RECâs, and Municipal UtilitiesConduct regular field visits, rideâalongs, and technical conversations with Standards Engineers, linemen, and operations teams to uncover pain points and unmet needsServe as the âvoice of the customerâ internally, translating realâworld challenges into validated product opportunity conceptsCollect market intelligence on trends such as grid modernization, resiliency, electrification, renewable integration, and workforce challengesCollaborate with engineering and project management to scope, prioritize, and develop business cases for new product ideasWork in tandem with Hubbell sales to strategically engage key accounts and unlock access to technical and standards groupsSupport the Hubbell sales team during customer meetings, demonstrations, pilot programs, and product evaluations related to new conceptsPartner with marketing to develop messaging that aligns with customer needs and utility operational languageMap out key utility organizations, decision makers, influencers, and approval pathways within targeted accountsMonitor competitor activity, technology shifts, regulatory changes, and utility procurement processesSupport longâterm strategic planning by providing insights on market sizing, adoption barriers, and product fitPresent findings, insights, and opportunity assessments to leadershipGuide internal teams to prioritize opportunities with the strongest technical fit and market viabilityEnsure customer expectations and field realities are incorporated into product design and pilot validationSkills5+ years of experience in the electric utility industry, product development, technical sales, or related fieldStrong understanding of utility distribution operations, field practices, or standards processesDemonstrated ability to build relationships with utilities, including engineers and field personnelExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to travel to customer sites regularlyDirect experience working with Standards Engineers, operations leaders, and linemenFamiliarity with utility safety practices, grid hardware, construction methods, or maintenance workflowsTechnical or engineering background desirable but not required (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar)Experience influencing crossâfunctional teams and leading customerâdriven product ideationCompany OverviewHubbell Incorporated is a leading manufacturer of utility and electrical solutions that help build more reliable, resilient, and renewable energy infrastructure.
