[Remote] Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will identify business development opportunities, lead portfolio analysis, and develop a deep understanding of specific market segments to drive growth and strategic initiatives.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and refine identified new business opportunities for Chemtrade’s solutions business; provide recommendations which will enable senior management to make timely decisions on which projects to develop to completionLead development of a robust understanding of Chemtrade’s end markets in the US, Canada and, where required, globallyResearch impact of macro trends (e.g. technology, regulation) on Chemtrade’s businessesDevelop Chemtrade’s marketing plans and business strategy with Business Units including responsible for specific sections such as market trendsEvaluate opportunities for new products in Chemtrade’s existing marketsEvaluate new markets for Chemtrade’s current productsBring clarity to potential areas of organic growth and external growth (M&A)Identify business areas adjacent to Chemtrade’s current portfolio suitable for growthDevelop full business case for new business opportunities covering return-on-investment, profit-loss projections and annual budgets (revenue, volume, margin and expenses)Impact through knowledge, influence and vision the future direction of Chemtrade’s business unitsReview of competitors in markets with SWOT analysisSpearhead, and participate in, idea generation through collaboration, co-creation and leadershipSupport development of pipeline of new products and markets with accountability for product launch including margin producedManage stage gate process for new products/opportunities in assigned business segmentsParticipate in key market conferences to better understand markets we participate in and opportunities for both current and new businessesPresent to Senior Leadership Team and Business Unit market insights, analysis with recommendations, areas for organic or external growth and final updates on business development activitiesUndertake analytical work, including evaluating large data sets (market data, trends, financials etc), to provide greater market understanding and identify business opportunitiesSkillsTechnical (Engineering or Chemistry) undergraduate degreeMBA highly preferred (Experience may be substituted)5-7 years in a chemical or related industry is preferableOutstanding quantitative and analytical skills including expertise in ExcelStrong problem-solving skills with ability to ramp up in multiple areasAbility to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful conclusions/recommendations utilizing good business judgementAbility to work independently and work with teams as well as pro-active in identifying challenges and finding solutionsExceptional ability to co-create and work collectively with various business leaders and other key stakeholdersAbility to navigate left-right (across topics) and up-down (strategy/details)Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to organize, conceptually interpret and communicate material developedAble to manage multiple different projects in parallel, effectively prioritize and coordinate across multiple stakeholdersBenefitsFamily-friendly benefitsOpportunities for career growth and advancementEmployee Resource Groups (ERGs)Company OverviewChemtrade is a supplier of sulphuric acid, liquid sulphur dioxide (SO2), and sodium hydrosulphite (SHS) to customers.
