[Remote] Board Member, Finance Position
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Ruff Start Rescue is seeking passionate professionals to join their Board of Directors as a Board Member in Finance. In this role, you will strategically govern the organization, support staff and volunteers, and make a positive impact on the lives of animals in need.ResponsibilitiesAttend and participate in monthly board meetings, and other Board development activitiesAttend at a minimum, two volunteer events annually (volunteer appreciation and donor fundraising events preferred)Attend a transport event at the rescue location in Princeton, MNActively participate in one or more committees of the boardProvide feedback and input to committee reportsShow passion in furthering the mission of Ruff Start RescueĀ® and be informed about the organizationās mission, services, policies, and programsAssist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities by ensuring adequate financial resources; oversee financial and risk managementParticipate and support any capital campaigns, including making a personal annual financial contribution and assisting the organization in finding additional donation sourcesSkillsBackground in finance or accounting, 5+ years of experienceKnowledge of financial statements, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting practicesFamiliarity with audits, internal controls, and financial oversightExperience with Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Microsoft ExcelAbility to support financial strategy and ensure fiscal responsibilityTerm Length - 2 years w/option to renewTime Commitment - 4-6 hours per month (depending on areas of expertise, committee assignments, etc.)Attend and participate in monthly board meetings, and other Board development activitiesAttend at a minimum, two volunteer events annually (volunteer appreciation and donor fundraising events preferred)Attend a transport event at the rescue location in Princeton, MNActively participate in one or more committees of the boardAbility to check your organizational email weekly and respond in a timely mannerShow passion in furthering the mission of Ruff Start RescueĀ® and be informed about the organization's mission, services, policies, and programsAssist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities by ensuring adequate financial resources; oversee financial and risk managementParticipate and support any capital campaigns, including making a personal annual financial contribution and assisting the organization in finding additional donation sourcesExperience with nonprofit financial policies and reportingCompany OverviewRuff Start Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit companion animal rescue that serves communities throughout Minnesota and states in the south with severe pet overpopulation.
