They are seeking an Accounting Consultant to ensure the accuracy of lease and capital accounting processes while partnering with various internal teams to maintain financial controls and compliance with accounting standards.ResponsibilitiesOwn the development, maintenance, and delivery of periodic reporting on the overall health of lease accounting processes such as tenant improvement allowances, assessing reasonably assured term, identifying and recording impairments, lease classifications, and variable changes in rentProvide governance and oversight of the CoStar lease accounting system, ensuring data integrity, proper controls, adherence to standardized processes, and compliance with accounting standards (ASC 842)Review work performed by team members related to lease and capital accounting processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal policiesProvide governance over capital accounting processes such as asset capitalization, cost categorization, and asset useful lifeAdvise on unique real estate transactions to determine accounting treatment and document the conclusions. Present conclusions to internal UHG customers. Ensure transactions are properly recorded during month end and included in the forecastPerform account reconciliations and analyses, prepare journal entries, review accounting classifications in accordance with generally accepted accounting principlesSupport the lease accounting reporting requirements for UHG's annual and quarterly filingsSkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field3+ years of relevant professional experience1+ years of experience with lease accounting (ASC 842)Professional accounting experience in a medium to large corporate environmentDemonstrated experience: Solving moderately complex accounting problemsDemonstrated experience: Researching US GAAP accounting policies and translating the findings into practical applicationDemonstrated experience: Managing balance sheet reconciliationsDemonstrated experience: Working as a member of a cross-functional teamDemonstrated experience: Supporting a month-end close processDemonstrated experience: Providing customer support in a highly matrixed organizationAdvanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office productsAbility to travel to our corporate location once a year for a department meeting/eventsLicensed CPA (or expired CPA)Experience with CoStar Lease Accounting softwarePeopleSoft & Hyperion Essbase experienceAll employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyBenefitsA comprehensive benefits packageIncentive and recognition programsEquity stock purchase401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements)Company OverviewUnitedHealth Group is a medical insurance company that offers health technology, patient checkups, and pharmacy services.
