The role involves driving renewals, upselling, cross-selling, and acquiring new business while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver value to Health customers.ResponsibilitiesIndependently manage a portfolio of institutional Health customers, including ongoing account planning that balances retention with growthRenew and renegotiate journal and non‑journal agreements to maintain strong revenue retention and ensure compliance with regulatory standardsUpsell existing accounts by expanding usage, increasing tier or coverage, and growing the value of current journal and non‑journal subscriptionsCross‑sell Wiley's broader portfolio into existing accounts, identifying opportunities to introduce additional non‑journal solutions beyond the customer's current footprintDrive new business by prospecting and converting target institutions that are not yet Wiley customers, building pipeline and closing first‑time dealsAnalyze usage trends and customer data to assess account health, mitigate risk, and inform proactive engagement strategiesProvide timely, effective responses to customer questions and issues, strengthening long‑term relationships and defending revenueConduct in‑depth customer research and gather market insights to tailor your outreach and elevate customer conversationsFacilitate data‑driven negotiations that align stakeholders and deliver successful contract outcomesPartner with internal teams across time zones to support customer needs and maintain accurate CRM documentationDelegate smaller renewals and administrative tasks to Sales Coordinators to ensure efficient focus on strategic activitiesServe as subject matter expert for specialized product lines or vertical market segmentsLead complex product demonstrations and technical presentations to prospective customersDevelop and maintain relationships with key customers and industry influencers within specialty areasCollaborate with engineering and product development teams to influence product roadmap and feature developmentConduct market analysis and competitive intelligence gathering within assigned specialty areasSupport development of specialized sales strategies and go-to-market plansLead participation in industry conferences, trade shows, and professional association eventsMentor junior team members and contribute to specialized training and development programsDevelop specialized sales materials, case studies, and technical documentationSupport pricing strategies and proposal development for complex specialized solutionsCoordinate with customer success teams to ensure optimal implementation and customer satisfactionContribute to thought leadership activities including webinars, white papers, and industry publicationsSkillsA four-year undergraduate degree3+ years of institutional sales experience in health, ideally within publishing, information services, or technologyDemonstrated track record of growing accounts and winning new business, not just managing renewalsExcellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship‑building capabilitiesAbility to work independently, manage your own territory, and operate with resilience under pressureStrong cross‑functional collaboration skills, especially across multiple time zonesA self‑motivated, data‑driven, customer‑centric approach to achieving resultsBenefitsWe offer meeting-free Friday afternoons allowing more time for heads down work and professional developmentThrough a robust body of employee programing we facilitate a wide range of opportunities to foster community, learn, and growWe are committed to fair, transparent pay, and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits packageCompany OverviewWe transform knowledge into accessible and actionable intelligence for today's challenges and tomorrow's possibilities.
