Probate / Trusts & Estates Attorney (California) – Contract, Remote
Overview We are hiring a California Probate / Trusts & Estates Attorney to manage a mixed docket of probate administration, contested probate/trust matters, and core estate planning (wills, revocable trusts, POA, AHCD). You’ll have direct client contact, support staff, and clear expectations. Core Responsibilities • Open, administer, and close California probate matters (petition → distribution) • Litigate contested issues: will/trust contests, fiduciary breach/removal, contested accountings, distributions • Handle inherited real property issues (liens, foreclosure risk, partition/buyout among heirs) • Draft/review wills, revocable trusts, POA, healthcare directives • Prepare/argue probate pleadings and motions; attend hearings/mediations • Communicate status/strategy to clients; work with team for timely filings Minimum Qualifications • Active California Bar in good standing • 2+ years probate administration or probate court experience • Exposure to probate/trust litigation (any contested matter) • Experience drafting estate planning documents • Negotiation/mediation skills; strong research & writing Nice to Have • Real property/foreclosure issues in probate • Contested accountings; fiduciary surcharge/removal • Settlement experience involving multiple heirs/beneficiaries Work Setup • Remote in CA with firm-provided tools • Reasonable billables; team support for filings, calendaring, and client intake Job Type: Contract Pay: $100.00 - $120.00 per hour Benefits: • Flexible schedule Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job
