Principal Software Engineer

Here we grow again! With the increase in new clients and projects, our Product Development team is expanding and we are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join the team! This is a hybrid opportunity for those local to Tempe, AZ.The Principal Software Engineer brings their expansive technical experience to all elements of our software applications. The Principal Software Engineer helps drive the architecture and development of new products and services and helps maintain and improve KUBRA’s existing applications. The Principal Software Engineer translates business requirements into realities and investigates issues in familiar and foreign code bases. What you get to do every day Find solutions for converting client requirements into product implementationsParticipate in the full software development lifecycleWrite code and contribute to the software architecture of a highly concurrent, high throughput systemCreate architecture and write software either by collaborating with other engineers, or completely independently depending on the taskCollaborate with Operations, QA, and Support teams to improve our SDLC and deployment pipeline wherever possibleInvestigate and resolve complicated software and systems issues, especially escalations from other engineers; taking ownership of these issues until a solution is reachedObtain and review requirements from Product Management and Implementation teams indicating the business needs and functionalities of new proposed applications or feature additionsWrite design documents while developing new softwareCreate or add to technical documentation for existing softwareReview code to ensure compliance with coding standards and to ensure that defined requirements are met. Make recommendations for improvements when necessaryOther duties as assigned What kind of person should you be? 10+ years of experience in Java environmentsExperience with cloud service provider(s) – Amazon AWS preferred with services such as EC2, S3, and RDSStrong software development skillsProficiency in Java and object-oriented design, with knowledge of Spring and Java EEProficiency in Java concurrency and Relational databasesExperience in building modern distributed applications or micro services preferredLeadership experience is preferredDemonstrated experience with and aptitude for troubleshooting technical problems What skills do you need?
