Principal Software Architect
Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a hands-on Principal Software Architect to lead end-to-end solution delivery for major retail platforms. This position is primarily remote, with the expectation of regular on-site engagement at client locations throughout the greater Seattle, Washington area. Candidates must reside within the Seattle metropolitan region. In this role, you will own architecture leadership (design, trade-offs, governance), active implementation (mentoring, code reviews, select hands-on features), and operational ownership (delivery sign-off, post-release support) of high-impact solutions, bridging business requirements to working implementations. You will drive Dual-Track Agile processes, guiding the Discovery Track for clarity and design exploration, and the Delivery Track to ensure quality, traceability, and measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate combines deep architecture expertise with hands-on coding, practical prototyping, and AI/agent workflow integration across the software lifecycleâfrom analysis and design to testing, documentation, and code generation. You will mentor teams, make critical technical trade-offs, and take full accountability for delivery sign-off and post-release support. This role requires strong retail platform domain knowledge (POS systems, store operations), cloud-native architecture experience, and fluency with generative and agentic AI tools to accelerate development while preserving architectural integrity. You will be a key driver of engineering excellence, ensuring solutions are both innovative and operationally robust.
