PHP Developer- MediaWiki Modifications (Remote)
Help us fix a broken political system.
Looking for a skilled web developer to modify MediaWiki software to allow for the creation of a debate archive. Users of the product will collaboratively create and edit summaries of talking points for various topics (current events and oft-repeated discussions), with editing permissions restricted so that each editor must choose a side, and are then allowed to only edit that side of the debate. Visit www.wikipraxis.org to learn more about our nonprofit organization’s goals- the ‘Discourse’ tool is what you’ll be working on, to get it ready for beta testing. Successful completion of this part of the project could eventually lead to a full time position, once we have a more robust fundraising operation.
The mission of our organization is nothing less than a complete overhaul of the means of political communication, with tools designed specifically to make the conversations more constructive. Applicants can review our website and send us a message letting us know what they think of the project, as well as how much experience they have working with PHP (and MediaWiki specifically).
Pay: $50.00 per hour
