Payroll Operations Specialist

Our work supports programs providing Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and outpatient services, with a focus on ethical care, regulatory compliance, and workforce sustainability. The Opportunity In this full-time, remote role, the Payroll Operations Specialist serves as a key member of the HR infrastructure, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal and state wage and hour regulations. This position plays a critical role in supporting employee lifecycle events, maintaining payroll data integrity, and coordinating withholding and unemployment account activities across multiple states. What You Will Do at Atlantic Health Strategies Process and audit payroll for multi-state employee populations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with FLSA requirements Manage employee compensation records, including new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and status changes Coordinate withholding setup and maintenance in alignment with employee elections and regulatory requirements Establish and maintain employer-level registrations and accounts required for payroll processing and wage reporting across multiple states Support unemployment account management, including claims response, documentation tracking, and agency coordination Partner with HR to ensure accurate classification of employees and contractors in compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) guidelines Maintain payroll records in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards, where applicable Reconcile payroll discrepancies and conduct routine audits to ensure data integrity and compliance readiness Support HRIS onboarding and system transitions, including data validation across platforms such as Rippling, BambooHR, Gusto, and OnPay Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support reporting, audits, and continuous process improvement initiatives Requirements What You Bring to Atlantic Health Strategies Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information Ability to interpret and apply policies related to compensation, withholding, and unemployment processes Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office applications Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment Requirements Ability to work full-time in a remote environment (state-specific requirements may apply) Experience in payroll operations, HR administration, or a related field Demonstrated competencies in data accuracy, compliance, and process improvement Knowledge of wage and hour compliance, withholding coordination, unemployment account management, and multi-state employer account setup requirements Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable regulatory standards Benefits Why Join Atlantic Health Strategies Be part of a mission-driven organization supporting behavioral health and recovery-focused services Work within a collaborative, compliance-focused culture that values accuracy, accountability, and thoughtful, people-centered operations Opportunities for professional development and exposure to multi-state HRIS systems A meaningful role supporting workforce operations that directly impact client care delivery Competitive salary range of $45,000 to $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience and role scope.
