Patient Safety Attendant (Sitter) - Nursing Services Admin Support - Nights 11p-7a
About the position
Responsibilities
• Provide constant observation of patients to ensure safety.
• Notify nursing personnel of changes in patient behavior or status.
• Intervene as needed to maintain patient safety and prevent elopement.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, families, and visitors.
• Assist with the plan of care as delegated by the staff nurse.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Adapt communication and behavior to meet the specific needs of the patient population.
• Perform other non-clinical duties as assigned when not on a specific patient safety attendant assignment.
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Training to be obtained prior to independent patient care.
• Current certification as a Nursing Assistant required for those in Skilled Nursing Facilities/Units.
• Good communication skills, especially with psychiatric and mentally ill patients.
• Ability to monitor and respond to patient-related changes in condition.
• Strong interpersonal skills and computer skills for data entry.

• Prior experience in a psychiatric environment.
