Part time/per diem surgical coder
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist-Neurosurgical to work per diem/moonlight. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding neurosurgical spine and brain procedures only. Someone with experience in neurosurgical coding is needed
Responsibilities
⢠Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
⢠Ensure accurate coding for diagnoses, procedures, and services provided to patients.
⢠Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.
⢠Process medical billing and collections efficiently, addressing any discrepancies or issues that arise.
⢠Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) classifications.
⢠Assist in the management of medical records, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and securely stored.
⢠Participate in audits and quality assurance processes to uphold coding accuracy and compliance.
Experience
⢠Proven experience in medical coding within a healthcare setting is required. Spine surgery coding experience is necessary
⢠Familiarity with medical billing processes and collections is a plus.
⢠Strong understanding of ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG classifications, and other relevant coding systems.
⢠Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems is advantageous.
⢠Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for managing complex medical records.
⢠Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
