The Amara Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on reducing barriers for individuals with disabilities through transportation, community resources, education, and long-term support systems. Current initiatives include Amara Access Directory, Amara Access Transit, Amara Academy, Amara Living, and Amara Continuum.

The organization is currently in its foundational development phase, focused on governance, research, community validation, partnership development, and long-term strategic planning throughout the Greater Houston area. The Amara Foundation was built around the belief that families deserve more connected, accessible, and sustainable support systems.

Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Nonprofit Board Treasurer.

The Treasurer will support the financial oversight and organizational accountability of the Board of Directors by assisting with financial tracking, budget organization, expense documentation, reporting, and long-term financial planning discussions. This role will also help support governance organization, financial transparency, and operational sustainability as the organization continues developing.

Board officers are expected to actively support community outreach, partnership development, and long-term fundraising initiatives as part of the organization’s continued growth and sustainability efforts.

• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to maintain accurate financial and organizational records
• Interest in nonprofit governance and long-term organizational development
• Ability to review financial information and support responsible budgeting practices
• Ability to coordinate professionally with board members and stakeholders
• Willingness to actively support community outreach, partnership development, and long-term fundraising initiatives
• Ability to help strengthen relationships with community organizations, stakeholders, and potential supporters
• Passion for disability access, community support, and long-term systems improvement
• Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, nonprofit operations, administration, leadership, or related professional environments is beneficial but not required
• Ability to work collaboratively in a developing and mission-driven organization

Pay: $1.00 - $5.00 per year
