Salary: $54,600 to $60,060 per year
Position Summary:
The Camden County SV Trauma Counselor provides trauma-informed, therapeutic support to individuals and families affected by sexual violence. This role involves conducting mental health assessments, developing treatment plans, providing individual and group counseling, and supporting survivors in their healing and empowerment journey. The Trauma Counselor works within a survivor-centered, culturally responsive framework to address the emotional, psychological, and behavioral impact of abuse.
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Conduct trauma-informed biopsychosocial clinical assessments and mental health screenings
ā¢ Provide individual counseling to adolescent (13+) and adult survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and their non-offending family members and significant others
ā¢ Co-facilitate or facilitate psychoeducational and support groups
ā¢ Assist clients with safety planning and crisis intervention
ā¢ Develop individualized service plans and personal safety plans with clients
ā¢ Administer and collect program evaluations
ā¢ Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency policies and state and federal confidentiality laws
ā¢ Collaborate with other SERV staff, including advocates and case managers to ensure comprehensive services are provided to clients
ā¢ Provide referrals to community resources as needed
ā¢ Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, and staff trainings
ā¢ Support outreach, prevention education, or community awareness events as appropriate
ā¢ Attend community meetings/coalitions as appropriate
ā¢ Assist with office procedures pertaining to the operation of the program
Qualifications:
ā¢ Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
ā¢ Licensed or license-eligible (LSW, LCSW, LAC, LPC, LMFT) in the state of NJ.
ā¢ Ability to pass comprehensive background checks
ā¢ Successful completion of the 60 hour NJ Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate (CSVA) and Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) Training
ā¢ Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
ā¢ Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
ā¢ Commitment to survivor-centered, empowerment-based practice
ā¢ Experience working with survivors of violence or trauma (preferred)
Working Conditions:
ā¢ May provide services in an office, safe house, or virtual/telehealth setting, or off-site/community location
ā¢ Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
