Mental Health Specialist Sitter – Virtual Observation, Full Time Variable

Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Virtual Observation Job Family Nursing Support Work Shift Summary The Mental Health Specialist Sitter (MHS Sitter) is responsible for sitting with assigned patients. The MHS sitter works with the nurse to assist with patient safety as well as to offer stimuli to the patient. The MHS sitter is responsible for communication to every person involved with the patient’s care. The MHS sitter is responsible for delivering customer service to the patient, staff and visitors. They also utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.Must have the skills and knowledge to conduct safe individual activities with the patients. Is to have strong observation and intervention skills with the patients and family members. Is to be proficient with interpersonal communication skills. Is to possess verbal communication skills to allow for calm communication with patient and the patient’s family members. CPR & Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and certification within 30 days of employment.Work involves a variety of activities to include walking, standing and sitting. Also has the ability to turn and lift patients. The ability to communicate and visually observe the patient is always required.
