Roles And Responsibilities
รย Accounts for coding and abstracting of patient encounters, including diagnostic and procedural information, significant reportable elements, and complications.
รย Researches and analyzes data needs for reimbursement.
รย Analyzes medical records and identifies documentation deficiencies.
รย Serves as resource and subject matter expert to other coding staff.
รย Reviews and verifies documentation that supports diagnoses, procedures and treatment results.
รย Identifies diagnostic and... procedural information.
รย Audits clinical documentation and coded data to validate documentation supports services rendered for reimbursement and reporting purposes.
รย Assigns codes for reimbursements, research and compliance with regulatory requirements utilizing guidelines.
รย Follows coding conventions. Serves as coding consultant to care providers.
รย Identifies discrepancies, potential quality of care, and billing issues.
รย Researches, analyzes, recommends, and facilitates plans of action to correct discrepancies and prevent future coding errors.
รย Identifies reportable elements, complications, and other procedures.
Skills And Requirements
รย Proven work experience as a Medical Coder or similar role
รย 2+ years of work experience as a Medical Coder
รย Specialized in either Radiology/Anesthesia/OBGYN
รย Proficient computer skills
รย Work with coding software
รย Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
รย Outstanding organizational skills
รย Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
รย High school diploma required
