The Mechanical Systems Engineer will develop standard engineering deliverables and collaborate with other engineering disciplines while contributing to a significant project at the Hanford Vit Plant, focusing on the treatment of radioactive and chemical waste.ResponsibilitiesPreparing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical reports, studies, design documentation, calculations using engineering software, and specifications for complex mechanical equipment for the waste treatment process and supporting systemsInterfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines in the development of the designKnowledge of industry, and regulatory guides, codes, and standardsComplete assigned engineering tasks within budget/scheduleSupport and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activitiesParticipates in the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes used utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and recordsCoordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplinesProvides direct support to other engineering disciplines for mechanical related mattersCoordinates development and presentation of material when requestedPrepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposalsEvaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modificationsProvides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standardsProvides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project executionSkillsRequires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 1 year of relevant professional work experience, or lieu of degree, a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experienceRequires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university or college and a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional work experience, or in lieu of degree, a minimum of 6 years of relevant professional work experienceMust be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the futureMust be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and educationMust be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
