Market Editor - Dwell (100% Fully Remote)

The Opportunity Dwell brings you the best contemporary home design and ideas for making your own space a great place to live. We are seeking a Market Editor to oversee our coverage—in print and online—of furniture, lighting, and other well-designed products for your home, as well as other guides and service content. This role will be responsible for growing the section by innovating new formats and features, in addition to building a roster of freelance writers. The ideal candidate has experience in buyer’s guides, product reviews, gift guides, and shopping-related how-to articles, and is passionate about making service content that is accessible and well-researched, with a point of view and a sense of humor. This role will report to the Executive Editor. The Responsibilities • Oversee, guide, edit, and write Modern World, our market section in the print issue • Assign and edit stories for our How to and Guides franchises such as How They Pulled It Off • Assign and edit both new and historical round-ups, reviews, blogs, and other short and longer form shopping content • Manage the product coverage editorial calendar and budget • Bring in new sources and writers with voice, personality, and expertise in the broader home space, and manage that network of freelancers • Analyze traffic data and use that knowledge to inform future work • Generate story ideas that will expand our audience • Work with our Art Department to commission illustrations and photography • Work with our Social editors on packaging and promotion • Help define Dwell’s unique style and point of view in our third decade The Qualifications • 5-7 years of editorial experience • Passion for contemporary architecture and interior design • Familiarity with designers, design brands, furniture, lighting, and other relevant topics • Experience editing and writing product reviews and shoppable content • A lengthy roster of sources and freelancers • Exceptional writing, editing, fact checking, and proofreading skills The Person • Excitement about working with a small, tight-knit team • An obsession with thinking about how we can use design to make our homes better places to live • A passion for discovering new design products and making recommendations • A discerning eye Apply tot his job
