Mainframe Database Admin
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Database Administrator to join our mainframe platform support team. This role will replace a retiring team member and requires expertise in SoftwareAG's ADABAS database platform along with related mainframe technologies.
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Database Administration: Manage and maintain 60+ ADABAS databases in a large-scale (over 9TB) mainframe environment
ā¢ System Integration: Support integration with ADABAS Security, ADABAS interface routines, Natural programming language, Natural Security, Entire NetWork, AOS, Review, and SQL Gateway
ā¢ Performance Management: Monitor, tune, and optimize ADABAS, Natural, Entire NetWork, and SQL Gateway performance
ā¢ Backup & Recovery: Execute database backup, restore, and recovery procedures
ā¢ Software Maintenance: Perform upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance across the installed Software AG products
ā¢ Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve Software AG product or customer usage issues and performance problems
ā¢ Documentation: Maintain technical documentation and procedures
Required Technical Skills
ā¢ ADABAS Database: Extensive experience with SoftwareAG ADABAS database administration
ā¢ Natural: Proficiency with Natural programming language, Natural One, and Natural Security administration
ā¢ Mainframe Platform: Knowledge of IBM z/OS operating system and client software such as TPX, TSO and batch JCL
ā¢ Related Products: Experience installing and supporting ADABAS Security, Entire NetWork, SQL Gateway, AOS, Review, CICS Interface
ā¢ On-call support required
Additional Technical Skills:
ā¢ ServiceNow or similar ITSM / change and incident management tools
ā¢ CA Broadcom mainframe tool suite, including Vantage, View, TPX, JCL Check, Sysview, and NetMaster
ā¢ CICS and related client software, including Intercom
ā¢ SQL and PL/I, and programming language (reading and basic maintenance)
ā¢ Assembler language (exposure or diagnostic-level experience)
ā¢ Infrastructure: Work with IBM z15 systems, multiple LPARs, and enterprise-class storage systems
