Junior Software Engineer

They are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support software engineering for mission essential capabilities and work closely with various teams to deliver consular services used by numerous Department of State sites.ResponsibilitiesSupport software engineering for mission essential capabilities hosted domestically, overseas, and the cloudSupport automation development efforts for systems, applications, databases, and infrastructureAdhere to Department of State procedures and requirements when implementing software security, scalability, and performanceParticipate in CST working groups and priority initiatives related to automationLeverage tools (Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow) to track all engineering features, stories, and tasksEnsure all configuration changes follow approved change management processes and security configuration guidelinesSupport Government customer with ad hoc tasks and data callsSkillsU.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a SECRET government security clearance and TOP SECRET, if neededBachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical fieldFamiliarity and some experience with software development, databases, and data structures through coursework or internshipsExperience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C++, SQL)Basic understanding of networking, client-server architecture, application/database design, and cloud principlesProblem solving, communication, collaboration and time management skills are a mustAbility to work in a high tempo environmentExperience with automation tools including Ansible and Ansible Automation PlatformExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools in cloud environments (Azure, OCI, AWS)Experience with YAMLExperience with CI/CD Tools (e.g. Github, Jenkins, others)Experience with networking, servers, databases, virtual/physical infrastructure, cloud, and containerized environmentsIndustry relevant certificationsBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionLifeHealth savings accountShort/long term disabilityEAPParental leave401(k)Paid time off (PTO) for vacationCompany paid holidaysCompany OverviewPeraton Fearlessly solving the toughest national security challenges.
