Jr. Budget Analyst
The Osborne Association serves individuals, families, and communities affected by the criminal justice system. The Junior Budget Analyst supports the Budget Analyst Team within Osborne’s financial department, focusing on payroll, financial reporting, and compliance.ResponsibilitiesPrepares and/or reviews payroll registers and all supporting documentation for vouchers for payment to be submitted to funders on behalf of the Budget Analyst TeamPrepares journal entries for correcting misallocation of expenses on behalf of the teamReviews payroll status form changes and reconciles any errors in the monthly salary allocationsAssist in the monthly closing of the general ledgerAssist in creating revenue entries in financial softwarePrepares revenue/expense reports as assigned by Revenue DirectorReviews purchase orders and codes expenses as assignedMonitors spending for line item contracts and prepares spending forecasts as assignedSupports other staff within the finance department by conducting research, compiling data, and conducting data entryAllocate funding sources in the HRIS systemMaintains financial data in accordance with Osborne’s policies and those of its fundersSupports the audit processProtects and secures all financial informationProvide support for all audits, and financial reportingEnsure Osborne Association complies with all fiscal regulatory and legal requirementsAttend required training(s)Perform other duties as assignedSkillsAssociate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related fieldCompleted internship experience in related coursework OR minimum of one year experience either in analyzing financial data and preparing vouchers for a non-profit organization and/or work experience in accountingProficiency in Microsoft Office and Google SuiteAbility to work effectively under tight deadlines, pay strong attention to detail, and time management skillsAbility to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functionsAbility to take the initiative and drive for resultsAbility to travel locallyAbility to communicate with all levels of the organization and build strong relationshipsExperience in preparing and posting journal entries is preferredCompetence in grant accounting is highly desirableProficiency in Financial Edge is a plus but not a requirementCompany OverviewOsborne is committed to transforming lives, communities, and the criminal justice system through: - Direct services and programs in five community sites—in the Bronx (our headquarters), Brooklyn, Buffalo, Manhattan, and Newburgh—and more than 30 prisons and jails, designed and proven to transform individuals, families, and communities.
