Job Description: The Visual Designer is a key member of the editorial department of the Global Content Lab which is part of Johnson & Johnson’s Corporate Equity group. This role, which reports to the Director of Editorial & Operations, partners with the content strategy and audience engagement teams to bring creative excellence in multimedia storytelling to JNJ.com, the company’s main website and the corporate social media channels. The goal? To protect and enhance Johnson & Johnson's reputation as one of the world's largest and most broadly-based healthcare companies. Key Responsibilities: • Overseeing visual strategy for JNJ.com, managing creative development, execution, and brand oversight. • Managing contract photo editor and freelance design resources. • Developing big ideas that can run on multiple channels and work with the various teams to execute those ideas. • Managing photo agency and other agency relationships. • Working with key stakeholders to source legally compliant images/illustrations for stories that will appear on JNJ.com and on the corporate social media channels. • Work with Director of Editorial and Operations and Johnson & Johnson legal teams on photo releases and other required documentation. Upload art to the CMS and prepare stories for publication, including the optimization of * images and other art assets. • Ideating and designing original infographics for Content Lab stories. • Routinely work to vet fresh talent for Content Lab needs, such as sourcing designers for infographic projects. • Working on PowerPoint decks for team. • Supporting the social media creative strategy, supporting by leveraging stock imagery, creative agencies, and in-house proprietary resources, as well as liaising with internal and external stakeholders to source imagery. • Partnering with audience engagement team to ideate and create art supporting social media content and high-profile campaigns; including gifs. Ensuring social media visuals share consistency in branding, color palette and theme to help reflect the J&J brand personality. * Creating social media image templates for posts to help support daily channel publishing needs. Qualifications Education: • A Bachelor of Arts; major in Design is a plus. Experience and Skills: Required: • A minimum of 6-8 years of professional design-related experience is required. • A minimum of three (3) years of experience leading a design team including managing staff and/or freelancers is required. • Extensive digital experience at either a consumer website or other corporate site is required. Demonstrated experience guiding business partners through the design process, with a well-formed understanding of design strategy methods and practices is required. * Strong understanding of current design, technology, media in order to create best-in-class content. • Excellent communication, organization and team interaction skills • Experience creating animated GIF's for Social Channels (such as Instagram) is required Ability to think conceptually across multiple platforms, including digital and social media is required. * Passionate about always improving skills and staying current with developments and trends in the industry. • Story-telling experience; The ability to translate designs into a narrative is required. • Strong visual, written and oral communication skills; ability to liaise with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders is required. • Knowledge and fluency in current design and office software, document management and CMS systems is required--including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills are required • This position will be based in New York, NY and may require some travel to company headquarters in New Brunswick, NJ.
