IT Communications Specialist (Contractor) - USA
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced IT Communications Specialist to lead the creation and delivery of internal IT communications across a global organisation.
This role will work closely with IT leadership and technical teams to turn complex initiatives into clear, engaging, and visually compelling content for internal audiences. The ideal contractor is proactive, highly organised, and capable of delivering polished, on-brand communications with minimal oversight.
This is not a writing-only role - strong visual storytelling and multimedia content skills are essential.
Key Deliverables:
End-to-end ownership of a bi-monthly IT newsletter
Monthly IT success stories and business updates
Quarterly thought leadership content aligned to IT priorities
Lightweight communications roadmap aligned to ongoing IT initiatives
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with IT leaders and teams to identify stories and key messaging opportunities
Translate technical initiatives into engaging content for technical and non-technical audiences
Create multi-channel communications including newsletters, Intranet content, executive updates, visuals, and short-form video
Design polished communications using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, and basic video editing platforms
Recommend scalable, cost-effective communication formats and channels
Tailor messaging for executive stakeholders while remaining accessible to wider IT teams
Independently manage deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal oversight
Ensure all communications align with internal brand standards
Required Experience & Skills:
Proven experience in Internal Communications, IT Communications, or Technical Storytelling
Strong ability to simplify technical concepts for broader audiences
Demonstrated visual storytelling and content design capability
Hands-on experience with modern content creation and design tools
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong stakeholder management and organisational skills
Preferred Experience:
Experience supporting enterprise or global IT organisations
Portfolio showcasing newsletters, campaigns, or multimedia communications
Familiarity with platforms such as SharePoint, Teams, or similar collaboration tools
Engagement Details:This contractor role requires someone who can independently manage agreed deliverables within allocated monthly hours while working closely with IT stakeholders and maintaining alignment with internal brand guidelines.
