AHEAD builds platforms for digital business. By weaving together advances in cloud infrastructure, automation and analytics, and software delivery, we help enterprises deliver on the promise of digital transformation. At AHEAD, we prioritize creating a culture of belonging, where all perspectives and voices are represented, valued, respected, and heard. We create spaces to empower everyone to speak up, make change, and drive the culture at AHEAD. We are an equal opportunity employer, and do not discriminate based on an individual's race, national origin, color, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, marital status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law, whether actual or perceived. We embrace all candidates that will contribute to the diversification and enrichment of ideas and perspectives at AHEAD. The Integration Engineer is responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining robust integration workflows using n8n (and similar iPaaS/automation platforms) to connect AHEAD's platforms to vendor, customer, and OEM systems. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external organizations to understand data requirements (device health metrics, entitlement status, etc.), then designing and implementing workflow automations to fetch, transform, and normalize that data. The ideal candidate will leverage strong JavaScript skills, deep experience with APIs and webhooks, and hands-on expertise with automation/iPaaS tools to deliver high-quality, scalable integrations. Key Responsibilities Integration Development: Design, develop, and deploy n8n workflows (and custom JavaScript functions) to connect to vendor, customer, and OEM APIs and data sources, retrieving information such as device health, license entitlements, warranty status, and more. Workflow Maintenance & Optimization: Monitor existing integrations for errors or performance bottlenecks; troubleshoot failures, optimize for reliability and efficiency, and ensure appropriate error-handling and retry logic. API Design & Documentation: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define data schemas and API contracts; write clear API specifications and maintain up-to-date documentation of integration endpoints. Automation Strategy: Contribute to Hatch’s overall automation strategy by evaluating new iPaaS platforms/technologies, identifying opportunities to expand or consolidate integration workflows, and recommending best practices around version control, testing, and deployment pipelines. Collaboration & Requirements Gathering: Partner with Leads, Customer Success, and Engineers to gather detailed integration requirements, map out data flows, and ensure alignment between technical design and business goals. Code Review & Standards : Participate in regular code and workflow reviews; uphold internal coding and security standards (e.g., handling of API keys, secrets, compliance with data privacy policies). Monitoring & Alerting: Implement monitoring dashboards and alerts (e.g., within n8n or via external monitoring tools) to proactively catch integration failures, stale data or SLA breaches. Support & Troubleshooting: Serve as primary escalation point for integration-related incidents; collaborate with Engineers to diagnose and resolve complex issues in production. Skills Required Education and Experience Minimum Required – 3+ years of experience in software development or systems integration, with at least 2+ year of hands-on experience building production integrations using an iPaaS or workflow automation platform (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Workato, MuleSoft). Preferred – 4+ years of experience in software development or integration engineering; demonstrated experience connecting complex enterprise systems (e.g., vendor APIs, entitlement/licensing databases, CMDBs). Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Programming Languages and Technologies: Proficient in JavaScript (ES6+) and comfortable writing custom code inside n8n or other automation tools. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, Webhooks, OAuth/OAuth2, and GraphQL. Experience with iPaaS/workflow platforms—especially n8n or other iPaaS platforms. Integration Concepts: Understanding of data retrieval (pull/push), transformation (mapping, normalization), and secure authentication methods. Knowledge of IT and infrastructure devices and equipment is a plus. Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Project Management: Ability to manage project tasks, set milestones, and meet deadlines. Collaboration: Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with end users and cross-functional teams. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and commitment to quality. Code Review: Experience participating in and conducting code reviews. Why AHEAD: Through our daily work and internal groups like Moving Women AHEAD and RISE AHEAD, we value and benefit from diversity of people, ideas, experience, and everything in between. We fuel growth by stacking our office with top-notch technologies in a multi-million-dollar lab, by encouraging cross department training and development, sponsoring certifications and credentials for continued learning.
